Our Programs
The Margaret River Golf Club has had a long history or working with the enviroment whilst maintaing one of the states finest courses. To emphasise these efforts the club has recently embarked on the following accreditation programs
Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf
The ACSP is an award winning education and certification program that helps golf courses protect our environment and preserve the natural heritage of the game of golf. By helping people enhance the valuable natural areas and wildlife habitats that golf courses provide, improve efficiency, and minimize potentially harmful impacts of golf course operations, the program serves an important environmental role worldwide. Audubon International has developed Standard Environmental Management Practices that are generally applicable to all golf courses. These standards form the basis for ACSP for Golf certification guidelines.
Waterwise Golf Course Program – Bronze Level
The Waterwise Golf Course Program has been developed to guide participants through the technical and compliance activities required to meet criteria under each of the three levels (Bronze, Silver and Gold) assessed and audited under the program and provide evidence of the participant’s ability to undertake the related tasks under each section.
The program incorporates management practices endorsed by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of Western Australia, the Sports Turf Association of Western Australia and the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation.
Bronze Accreditation includes requirements to fulfil an operating strategy associated with a 5C Licence to take water under the Rights in Water and Irrigation Act 1914 (prepare an irrigation water efficiency plan based on the Department of Water Operational Policy 5.08) for Bronze Level.
When required, data can be entered into the relevant section via submission to the Department of Water, using the Water Online Service.
